Anonymous Searching

January 26th, 2008

Casual internet users don’t think before they hit Enter after they type any query in the search box .But techies do think, and keep on pondering whether the keyword they search are being tracked and whether their search habits are being spy ed and analyzed for some malware soon to create. But for people who think this way Ask.com has got a solution.

Ask.com introduced a feature called AskEraser which does the job for all that thinking. AskEraser works in a very simple and easy manner .It can be explained in one simple term “Whatever you search gets wiped and erased and deleted as soon as you close the browser”.

AskEraser can be easily activated and used by clicking a link on the upper right corner of the Ask Homepage and. Enabling it will wipe all the history and cookies from the Ask.com servers and user computer. The working is very simple , Ask.com creates a reverse cookie in the user’s computer as soon as AskEraser feature is enabled. This reverse cookie creates a entry for not storing any information from the Ask.com website. As cookies aren’t created, there isn’t any history created in the Ask.com servers. Its effect will remain till the user uses the same browser and doesn’t delete the cookies. But if the user does delete cookies everytime it closes it browser then the user will have to enable AskEraser feature every time the user wants some privacy from Ask.com.

Still its not very clear how much deep this feature might work as it doesn’t state anything about the cookies saved by advertisers. But sure enough if such service keep on emerging privacy can be retained for each and every user on this InternetSphere.

Starting A Blog

January 26th, 2008

People usually jumble up things when asked about blogging. So many things more easy, here are some basic steps which can help you start off with blogging.

  1. Choosing a Blogging Platform: There are several blogging platforms, but I recommend WordPress.Other platforms include Blogger,Typepad and some more independent Platforms.I would suggest for your ease of use try all and decide which one suits your bill.

  2. I recommend rather than using the free blogging services take a decent hosting like Lunar Pages , buy a good domain and point it towards your blog.

  3. Once you have got your blog started and going, choose a good topic to blog on and stick to it. Make sure the domain you use is of related to the topic you choose. Choosing themes for your blogs is very important step because themes can be broad as my theme it can extent it boundaries making it easy for me to blog. But I still prefer staying glued to the niche I chose.

  4. If you are completely new to blogging and don’t have any good experience in writing up stuff, then the best way is to start of with reference blogging ,this means you start off posting articles of other blogs keeping in mind the blogging ethics and copyright policies. This will eventually make it easier for you to write interesting stuff later .

  5. Write what interests you not thinking what readers would expect you to write. If you write with a mindset of thinking what readers think you will eventually get bored of blogging and your blog will eventually end up as a dust.

  6. The best starting off way to get readers is to comment on other blogs and link other bloggers. You can use Technorati for this. As they will come to read what you commented and if they like what you say you might get some really good response.

  7. Make sure you get some support from friends, if you write something really interesting stuff ,go share with your friends ,email them. No don’t SPAM but mail them and ask them to give you some genuine feedback about your blog.

  8. Do create a “Contact Us” page on your blog, this makes easier for readers to send some really genuine feedback and also comment on your blog posts.

  9. The most exhilarating thing for a blogger is having readers, make sure you have RSS feed enabled in your blogging software. Make sure it is enabled and is clearly make visible to readers.

  10. Also create an “About” page and give your readers some information about yourself and the blog. Or you can even stay anonymous like me .;D

These simple steps can help you in blogging. So enjoy blogging and Good Luck.

Google to hit Wikipedia hard with KNOL

January 25th, 2008

The Internet Gaint Google Inc. has laid its hand over building an online encyclopedia which can give Wikipedia a hard hit. Google has created an online encyclopedia name KNOL which originally derives from the word knowledge.

Google KNOL

KNOL can be easily differentiated from any other online encyclopedia by its special emphasis on the author driven pages which can are created by authors on that topic though It can be edited by users and are free to contribute while creating similar knols on the same topic by members of same community with comments, questions and discussions regarding the same but the more credential are given to the expert author who has good knowledge about in the same field than to the user. Google promises to have no control over the material generated by Knol users.

Google will also seek permission from authors whether to use advertisements for their knols and it also promises to share the earned revenue. Although this could be a good step as it won’t create any complications later as in the case of YouTube. Google also stated that these pages will be available to all search engines but its still not very clearly stated what rank it will have compared to other relevant results in organic search. If this isn’t clear it could create very big set back for other wiki sites/online encyclopedia websites as all the search terms which provide results of wiki websites will have search results of KNOL as Google is undoubtedly the only leader and preferred search engine beside other competitors.

2008 Whats in the box

January 25th, 2008

2007 year was a quite good for technological advances now comes 2008 lets see whats most talked about things for 2008 which are more in demand than anything else.

  • Most awaited for all Windows users is Windows XP Service Pack 3.[XP SP3]. Microsoft is all ready with its beta version just waiting for the final version to launch. But as the world has evolved with Windows XP and moved over to Windows Vista this release is more concerned with some visual updates and some security patches.

  • Not only XP is getting is getting a add-on Windows Vista is also waiting for SP1 soon to be launched with some boost in Vista performance and DX 10.1.

  • Windows to soon launch Windows Home Server to manage home network and will make it really convenient and easy for Home network users to manage computers.

  • Processors will see a good boost, as 2008 will be a streamline to launch different Quad Core processors as AMD and Intel both are ready to release Phenom X4 processor and Core 2 Extreme quad core with 12MB cache respectively. As seen earlier Intel Core2Duo can be over clocked to some scaling heights its really unfair to state AMD is a tough competitor .Phenom would be much more good than Athlon but as don’t know whether it will act as a catalyst in this war or not.

  • High end motherboards with multi GPU motherboard will soon be released and nVidia will have their 780i and 790i and Intel will release their x48 chipset. But testing have stated that the 780i have problems with Intel’s new processors and x48 isn’t good in performance as hyped.

  • Memory will see the number 3 as the lucky strike by launching the DDR3 as the high end memory. DDR2 and DDR memory have almost be selling at same rates and present market shows that Intel as well as all leading motherboard manufacturers have kept their hand behind DDR2 so it won’t be hard for a better upgrade.

  • Storage being the new enemy of 2007, the solid state drives has reached 1TB and hope this year will cross another 500GBs and touch 1.50TB.Their will be good advancement is Hybrid drives and optical media will see a good rise due to Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, if the prices for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray readers will lapse a little.

  • 2007 saw a some really good graphic cards with the launch of 8800 GTS and GTX late 2007 launch of 8800 GT which sits between GTS and GTX their isn’t seem to be much left of the 8 series of Graphic Cards. The new GTS is presumed to be the best in the lot

  • AMD had also recently released their cards, the HD 3850 and HD 3870. These fall in at the top of ATI’s line with the HD 3850 falling a little low than the HD2900XT in tests. These new cards are the first on the market with DX10.1.Hope to see more of DX 10.1 graphic cards this year.

  • Lookout for USB 3.0 this year as a better successor for age old USB as it makes its way to in the second half of 2008. The performance will be around 5Mb/s, about 10 times the speed of USB 2.0. USB 3.0 will be backwards compatible with existing USB devices. Say bye-bye to cords when this hits the mainstream. USB 3.0 will have its work cut out for it; eSATA is catching on quickly,is just as easy to connect, and fast too.

Looking at gadgets Sooner or later Apple to launch a second version of iPhone which would have more functionality and a little cheaper.
