One thing why Apple was predominant over other Operating Systems was the security. The so called “top level security” or “robust security” which Apple’s OSX operating system provides was hacked in less than 2 minutes. The team Independent Security Evaluators (ISE) took just 2 minutes to crack this “robust security” and enter the OS with the help of Safari Browser.
The hackers weren’t rookie as such. They were the researchers at ISE and had participated in “PWN to OWN” competition at CanSecWest security conference, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Where they were able to achieve this feat. The competition made it real simple for hackers to test their skills at high security level. The hackers were provided with three laptops with three different OS. These included an Apple Macbook Air running OS X 10.5.2, a Sony Vaio VGN-TZ37CN running Ubuntu 7.10 and a Fujitsu U810 running Vista Ultimate SP1. Anyone who could successfully hack or exploit these machines would win a $10,000 price from famous security company Tipping Point.
Mac was the first to get knocked, they was Vista Ultimate and Ubuntu despite all tries showed the best security hold. For more read at DVlabs.
