This is what GTA IV hold as of now. Give some more months and more records might flow in with some awards. As per resources, GTA4 managed to move 3.6 million units within 24 hours of being on the shelves which counts a number that translates to approximately $310 million dollars in overall revenue for its producers. Whoops! Well it took Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 24hrs to make $220 million. The early highest grosser for 24hrs.

Well the game sells at a higher price as compared to book but that amount does count off when its clearly stated after the few months when everything is cleared off.
