UPDATE : Spirit gets a update. New Download link updated.
Spirit jailbreak for iPad and iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 has been quick but had so many issues and people started screaming with the problems they had. Thanks to all the jailbreak users they been helping everyone as and when needed.
But one of the most frustrating problem was when spirit wasn’t able to detect iTunes 9, no matter what you do it just won’t detect. Even try restarting, re-installing, fresh installation .. still it would pop out this error.
“Spirit Requires itunes 9 to function. Please install the correct version of iTunes and run spirit again.”
Once again thanks to the other jailbreak users we have a solution for that.
Kirma has developed a fixer of course called , ‘Spirit Fixer by Kirma’ .
Follow these steps to fix it your iTunes error :
- Download ‘Spirit Fixer by Kirma’
- Extract the downloaded file.
- Run ‘Spirit.Fixer.By.Kirma.v1.01.exe’
- Let the fixer process. (Your error must be fixed.)
- Run ‘Spirit.exe’
Spirit JB : Spiritjb.com or Here(windows)
Spirit Fixer : Fixer Download Link
Check the Video
UPDATE : After the Spirit Update, the fixer won’t be needed i guess.

it doesn’t work on me.. the error is still come… waht can i do??? (sorry for my bad english
)
Make sure you have iTunes 9.x.x
Download both the files again.
-Put both of the extracted files on desktop.
-First, Run the Spirit Fix and then run the Spirit. Make sure you run both the program as Admin. Right Click on the file and ‘Run as Administrator’.
Before running Spirit, Right Click on it > Compatibility > Windows 98 >Apply. And Run it as Administrator.
Tell me if you still get any error.
I made the whole process But Still The Same error. I am running with adiministradores, and put the Compatibility to Win 98 and 95, and always the Same error. so I know this fixer Kirmes iTunesMobileDevice.dll it copies the file and creates the file iTunesMobileDevice2.dll .. Already from this and tried to manually But nothing is going right, my spirit did not want to run: (
@Ricardo
other solution would be remove iTunes completely. Restart your PC. Download a new setup. Install. Restart.
Try changing your USB ports which you use.
Download again and try.
Extract both the files on desktop and follow the method mentioned in the comment above.
@axl409
@Ricardo
Re-uploaded Spirit.
Just download spirit and try. If still doesn’t work then try the fix.
nothing…the error is still come
anoters idea???
@axl409
dude i have the same error i try everything and nothing :/
what we can do?
@Dalo
i’ve read in other websites and it says we should try to another pc… nut i can’t do that
@Dalo
@axl409
Got another idea, why not try the solution we used for blackra1n? As spirit just creates iTunes’ DLL file duplicate.
Download Spirit again and paste it in
“C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support”
Might be hidden. Just unhide n try.
If still there is a issue, fresh install itunes, but this time clean your registry after uninstalling.
You can use this – http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
@v1dz
, but i am italian and in C:\Program Files\Common Files there is nothing about apple..if u want i send you a screenshot… maybe i should go to another folder??
thank u for the idea
@v1dz
there is nothing also if i tick see al the file and folders in the menù…
@axl409
You might be using x64 OS
Try this
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support”
@v1dz
i haven’t it yet… and also i don’t know waht it seems x86…
see this.. it is what i find when a press double click on c:\
http://twitpic.com/1l7m6z
where i should go???
@axl409
Open the ‘Program Files’ folder. You should have a Common Files folder. If you don’t have, that means your iTunes has not been installed properly.
I guess you have windows XP, right?
Note : This is only jailbreak not unlock so if you are using a iPhone don’t upgrade your baseband.
Update your Device to 3.1.3
Unintall these softwares
- iTunes
- Apple Application Support
- Apple Mobile Device Support
- Apple Software Update
Also remove your iTunes files but not your backups. C:\My Documents \ My Music
Use http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download to clean your registry.
Download and Install iTunes 9.0.3
http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
Backup your device.
Download latest updated Spirit from http://spiritjb.com and Try (Run in compatibility).
Still can’t ? Try the fixer.
Let me know how it goes.
@v1dz
it says it doesn’t found 2 dll of quick time so it doesn’t work itunes…. i have done all the steps but when i launch itunes to do the backup it says that
i have unistall all another time…now it is installing itunes 9.1.1.12 (the latest version) then i try to run spirit… i have also clean up the reg with ccleaner….
@axl409
Is it happening with the old version of iTunes or the new version too?
If you don’t want a backup you can directly try running spirit.
Or try with new iTunes.
nothing…the eror is still come… i have done all that i can do with my possibility…i can’t do anymore…if u have other idea please tell me
@v1dz
it’s happen with the old version of itunes… but also with the new (that it run) spirit gave me the same error
@axl409
I myself am on Windows 7, but still I would try something. Try the fixer again on new iTunes , try using some other usb port too if possible.
ok.. i try it now… i let you know…thank for help me i appreciate it

ps: I have a Windows XP sp3 (Media Center Edition)
Same here
whats going wrong here.
I am doing everything right to my knowledge , why this error
@Vincenzo
He is on windows xp i guess.
@Everyone
There seems to be some specific OS issue which doesn’t allow a few many users to use it.
A few queries if guyz could answer.
1. Are you the Admin of the PC? Or does your user have the Admin rights?
2. Had you updated the older iTunes version or just downloaded and installed a new version?
Also if possible for anyone, could you format your OS and then try?
I am still trying to figure out the issue, still clueless.
Thanks.
1- Yes I have Admin rigths.
2- Yes I do it!
I think we have to wait for a fix! -_-
i get this failed to jailbreak error code c0000138 now wat???
@pati
For you, heres the solution
Copy the file Libeay32.dll from
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\libeay32.dll
to
C:\Windows\System32\
This would resolve that error.
@Vincenzo
I still ain’t sure, because its happening to some selected XP systems only.
@Vincenzo
i have win xp sp3 professional edition.
i found the directory of common file, in my pc (ita) was in C:/Programmi/File Comuni/Apple/Mobile Device Support/iTunesMobileDevice.dll what i should do with that dll?
@v1dz
i just tried that solution, but nothing
other idea?
@axl409
Oh, but tht solution was for error code c00000138
ur seems to be different and related to certain number of xp users only.
I guess a different PC or a new reinstalled OS would help. Still i am trying to get more info on wat the problem could be.
i get this failed to jailbreak error code c0000138 now wat???

I keep getting File Access Denied when I try to download Spirit.exe. It seems I need administrative permission to “copy” a certain file for the download to complete. Can you help?
@Angie K
Are you trying to download on a Office computer/laptop or Office network? Most of the office systems and networks block their employees from downloading any stuff off the internet.
Even many university networks block off students to download anything.
Try using home network if possible, that would help you download.
If you still can’t let me know some networks don’t allow .exe files ( spiritjb.exe is a exe file) but they allow .zip files. I could zip it and upload it for you.

When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get three e-mails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Bless you!
Thanks , I have recently been looking for information approximately this subject for a long time and yours is the best I’ve came upon so far. However, what in regards to the conclusion? Are you sure concerning the source?|What i don’t understood is if truth be told how you are not really much more well-preferred than you may be right now. You’re very intelligent.
