Yes, I know this could sound old. But as Spirit launched many new jailbreak users have sprung up and are clueless what to do and what all things they can do.

So here is a simple must-install-things after jailbreak, adding a few must have resources too.

OpenSSH

Must have if you need to transfer files to the file system or you just want to edit/customize your iPod as per you needs.

SBSettings

The shorted way to get all your settings toggled ON/OFF.

Winterboard

All the customization and themes and much more in one Cydia App.

Installous

( Though i recommend you to buy the applications you like , developers have worked on them to get it this far, help them )

iOS 4.0+ has Multitasking and for older devices you can use Whited00r OS ( improved 3.1.3 )

Till the time we get multitasking in 4.0 firmware ( June 2010 ) some must have multitasking App

Backgrounder

Just keep any App Running in the background, can be toggled ON/OFF for any App you want. Make sure you configure it properly and get going

Circuitous or Pro switcher.

I would recommend Circuitous, though pro-switcher looks cool n stuff. As per my experience Circuitous is quite stable and works smooth with any device.
