Using Spiritjb And Solving Errors

Everyone has been reading about jailbreak and Spirit Everywhere. Here is one simple tutorial and fixer for all your problems. Hope this helps.

About Spirit : This is a userland jailbreak for all the newer devices which weren’t jailbroken by blackra1n. Its for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.

Requirements :

-Non-Jailbroken iPod Touch / iPhone / iPad with firmware 3.1.2 or 3.1.3.
-Latest version of iTunes
-Download Spirit

Now once you have all that, first thing to do is connect your device and back it up in iTunes. Dunno how to do that?
Oh snap its easy just connect your device and right click on the name of the device you would have one option for that.

Its wiser to backup your SHSH blobs if you are on a lower firmware, if you don’t know what is that, it doesn’t matter its for you to get back on the firmware if you need to downgrade. iTunes won’ t allow directly but backing up SHSH blobs would help.

HOW TO BACKUP SHSH BLOBS!?

Users on firmware 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 can use AutoSHSH.

Earlier firmware users follow these simple steps and try not to goof up.

  • Download ECID Grabber from here or here.
  • Download Firmware Umbrella from here or here
  • Extra both of them in a folder.
  • And read the amazing tutorial here

Once you are done we can proceed with Spirit JB.

USING SPIRIT TO JAILBREAK

  • Download Spirit
  • Start the program which you downloaded. For Windows users Right Click on it > Compalibility > Choose Run as Admin > Choose Compatibility Mode on Windows 95.
  • The program would show you a text and tell you which device and which firmware you are on.
  • Once you are sure what is going on and what  is running, Click on the button ‘ Jailbreak’ . If you hear some noises, see some some picture and a loading bar on your device, then its perfect you are in the perfect process.
Wait for it to complete and device would restore and reboot. Let it happen itself. Its not magical but its instructed to do so. Once done, you would see a clean device with ‘Cydia’ icon on the second page. Voila! you are jailbroken and Cydia indicates you that :)

Error Code Fixes

Error: c000005
Solution: Damn! Didn’t i tell you to run in Compatibility Mode.!?

Error: c000035a
Solution: Save the file ‘Spirit.exe’ to desktop.

Error : “Spirit Requires itunes 9 to function. Please install the correct version of iTunes and run spirit again.”
Solution : Read here

Error : c0000138

Solution : Copy the file Libeay32.dll from
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\libeay32.dll
to
C:\Windows\System32\

Many Antrivirus might call it a trojan, don’t worry as long as you download it from here it won’ t harm you computer, just shut off your Antrivirus/firewall and run again.

If you still get some error, try re-intsalling iTunes from a fresh setup. Clean you registry while doing that. Reboot your computer whenever asked and needed.

Fix to make Spirit Jailbroken device work in iFunbox.

Those who find iFunbox not working there is a easy solution for that. Go into Cydia and search for afc2add.
Install it and Reboot the device.

For any other problems or clarifications drop by a comment.

Finished with Jailbreaking but clueless what to do now?! Install the Must have Cydia Apps

Hi, I am running on Mac OS and I installed the latest spirit. Everything was going fine until a background appeared on my iPhone with the status bar in the middle. It has been an hour but the iphone hasnt rebooted as supposed to and its still on that page. What do I do? ):

    @xoxo
The status bar is the process bar while spirit runs.
    Re-run Spirit and try again.

Re-run the Spirit. Else try putting your device in DFU mode and restore it back.

    @Mike Bay
What is your problem? You seem to be trying to install 3.1.3 on 2nd Generation iPod while running it via Spirit.

Make sure your iTunes version is earlier than 9.2
