Download The Windows 8 Consumer Preview
Microsoft has released their long-awaited Metro UI based Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
Apart from having the easy-to-use interface, the Metro UI based Windows 8 operating system is known for its touch-friendly UI. A whole new genre of desktop apps are coming, new gestures, and a completely redesigned browser.
Windows 7 users would only find the Start screen / Home screen to be different, rest all should be exactly the same as Windows 7. You can switch to your desktop view as you have for Windows 7 when you want in Windows 8. You can download and try it out if you want, since it’s a consumer preview first download the simple installer from the Download page and run it. The installer would automatically analyze your installed applications and tell you their compatibility with Windows 8. If you are okay with it you can proceed ahead and download the Windows 8 installer which is roughly around 3-4GB which is customized as per your system by that installer.
