Blekko : The Complete Search Engine

Blekko is a new player in the search engine market. The preview looks great to me, and seem this could be the ultimate search engine if tamed. The alogrithm seems neat and just like all social networking websites have, we can follow people and make our search more alive and real.

Google has been a dominating the search engine genre since the past decade, the new-looking and more efficient search engine, Bing is good but still hasn’t penetrated the market completely, despite having Y! which is playing around with Bing to beat Google it isn’t much favored search engine. The question is could @Blekko change this? Could it catch up the trend and break the benchmark Google and Bing has already set?

Still in the closed blekko stage of, the open beta would soon be out in few days ( i guess ) but the preview given to the @techcrunch team seems amazing. The founders seem very ambitious and confident about what they are doing would be successful sooner or later. They never shake while taking about Google or Bing. I love the passion they put it in the developing  this site, and the way they have been putting their ideas and the guts to create a  totally different kind of search engine.

Check  the videos to know everything and invitee to join the beta for @Blekko after the jump. Continue reading →

Google Voice for Everyone. Really!?

Google always has been developing amazing applications which never failed. Right from Google Docs to Google buzz all the web/cloud Apps have been amazing. One thing which Google pertained throughout the development and deployment phase is the invitation system.

Well fortunately all the Google Apps have been so great and awesome that they came out of the Beta stage and evolved to something useful. The best thing about this invitation system is that no matter how useful or good that particular App is everyone wants a hold over that invitation.

Way back in 2007 Google bought something very revolutionary, a startup which was called Google Voice from Grand Central. The usage of Google voice is very simple, you register your number, get your Google Voice number and use it as you use without paying any extra charges. It uses your 3G network to establish calls to google voice numbers. 2006 was the year where it was first started by GrandCentral and went under serious testing and development, later almost 2 years later Google introduced Google voice to Grand Central subscribers, the only catch was that it was completely invitation based ( same trick worked for Google Mail, Gmail as we know now ). Now being very successful in promoting via ‘invite only’ methodology, Google has over 1 million Google Voice users. Continue reading →
