So at XDA-Developers, a 2.32MB APK arrived a few hours ago, which should essentially install Flipboard on any Android device.  Here is how to install it and start flipping like a iOS user.

• Go to XDA-Developers, and download the Flipboard.apk file. Only download the file uploaded by user Valcho.
• If you aren’t using your phone to browse, then click over the Attached file to get the QR code (given below) and download the App directly. Or download the APK on your PC and transfer it to your device any way you like ( Dropbox, self-email, usb, bluetooth, ada ada ada )
• 
• Run the APK, and install Flipboard.

Nice and easy, enjoy Flipboard on your device.

For people who don’t want to install unofficial apps, sooner or later this App would hit the Google Play store. So don’t worry its worth the wait if you want to.

@chpwn is a known hacker in the jailbreak community and always has been known for releasing some amazing jailbreak tweaks. Most of them are free and some are paid which are available in Cydia Store. Along with Ryan Petrich, Grant Paul have released Spire, a new tool for installing Siri on unsupported devices.
Spire is available for free in Cydia Store and it downloads the Siri directly from Apple, it is a huge 100MB file.
Despite all the efforts, Spire still has one small hurdle to clear, Authorization. Just like the previous tweaks and hacks, Apple still requires authorization to use Siri, so to send and receive information a iPhone 4S is still required. But to bypass that Spire allows you to add a proxy server which would help Siri function as it should via the Proxy server.

Paul has also setup a Spire Proxy FAQ to make it easy for anyone to get Siri working for their device.

All these efforts by various developers has finally paid off and now every jailbroken device could install Siri’s twin sister ‘H1Siri‘ via Cydia. The App claims to work exactly like Siri and all the requests are processed through a proxy server.

It works as it is says but since it runs all the processes through a proxy server setup by the developers at CD-Dev Team it isn’t really advisable for you to install it as it might collect your personal data easily. Check the non-working demo by iDownloadblog.com after the jump.

Many known jailbreak developers have said that this hack works but is illegal and uses copyrighted binaries from the iPhone 4S .
Right now the proxy server is completely slammed and since the Siri requests were pouring is heavily the server is down and could be down for few weeks.

This might not be the perfect Siri port or a very legit way to port Siri to other devices, but surely the work done by the developers is commendable. The Cydia hack despite not being liked for its illegality it surely is the first fully working Siri hack and leaves us hopes of getting Siri on all devices soon.

ROM Manager and modder Koush has been working on this custom CyanogenMod 9 mod for Samsung Nexus S and has finally released the Alpha build 11 of this mod.

Installation and other instructions are provided on XDA-Developers forum here.

Two known Apple hackers @chpwn and @stroughtonsmith have successfully ported Siri on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch which responds and works perfectly as it does on iPhone 4S. For the hackers, porting the GUI was easy task but they did the most important and needed part, managed to talk to Apple’s servers.

Mark: Where do you go from here with the port?

Steven: At this point it’s all about confirming this works across devices, making it reproducible (we got it working on two devices today), and documenting everything. It does require files from an iPhone 4S which aren’t ours to distribute, and it also requires a validation token from the iPhone 4S that has to be pulled live from a jailbroken iPhone 4S, and it’s about a 20-step process right now.

Mark: In its current state, is the port 100% functional, is there anything you would like to see work better?

Steven: Yes, it seems to be 100% functional. I’m working on the rough edges, but everything that works on the iPhone 4S seems to work here.

Mark: Do you ever see Siri showing up in Cydia (or another jailbreak store) for non natively supported devices?

Steven: No, I could not be a part of that. I have no doubts that others will package this up and distribute it quasi-illegally, or try and sell it to people. I am only interested in the technology and making it work; proving that it works and works well on the iPhone 4 and other devices.

Mark: So, you also got Siri working on the fourth-generation iPod touch, how is that working out?

Steven: We got chpwn’s iPod touch up and running with Siri after proving it works on my iPhone 4. Unfortunately the microphone on the iPod is nowhere near as good as the iPhone – you will notice that the Siri level meter hardly moves when you talk to it. While it does work, you have to speak loudly and clearly to the iPod.

Mark: How long did porting take you, what was the “I got it” moment?

Steven: Basically, I already had everything I needed to make it work. I had spent a lot of time mapping out in my head exactly how Siri works on the iPhone. All I needed was access to a jailbroken iPhone 4S to put my hunch to the test. It literally took no longer than 10 minutes to put all the pieces in place and perform our first test on my iPhone 4, and it was an instant success.

Unfortunately, there won’t be a public release soon, but we can hope some other hacker or developer manages to get this working as these geniuses did.

For now you can port the Siri GUI on your device just to check it out, for that you need to use the iPhone 4S Siri files and SSH them in to your device.

It is mostly faced by jailbroken users but can be faced by normal users too.
Don’t worry there is a solution for that,This problem is not really from your side but this problem is due to a bug in Cydia’s back end because of which you get that error.
Cydia’s SHSH caching server saves your SHSH blobs to keep your safe and secure so you could downgrade later if you want.

This should get fixed soon anyways here is the solution for you.

• Download TinyUmbrella
• Launch it.
• Click on the “Advanced” tab.
• Uncheck “Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit”
• Click on “Apply Changes”
• Reboot your PC/Mac.
• Now Connect your iDevice to the computer and hold the Shift Key and Click on Restore in iTunes and browse for the IPSW file you downloaded.

If you are a non-jailbreak user or If this doesn’t help then try another solution

• Exit iTunes
• Locate your hosts file:
  • In Mac OS X /etc/hosts
  • In Windows c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
• Open the hosts file with Administrator privileges using Notepad.
• Add the following lines to the very bottom of the hosts file:
• 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
• Connect your device to the computer
• Launch iTunes
• Put device into DFU Mode by turning your device off and then holding down the sleep and power button for 10 seconds, then release the power button but hold onto the home button until iTunes tells you that the device is now in recover mode
• Use the iTunes Restore feature as usual with the iOS device

If you want you can remove the “74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com” line from your hosts file again so that iTunes can properly update as usual.

2. Create a New App here, Give it a name and namespace, doesn’t matter what name you give you don’t actually have to publish it to public. For now name it For Timeline, namespace it as ‘getmetimeline’. Read through the terms and conditions and go ahead.
3. Click on Open Graph on the left sidebar, and click ‘Get Started using Open Graph’
4. Create a test action for your app, such as ‘give’ a ‘photo’
5. Once done with that, you would see a page with app settings, rename the app if you want, change the default settings if you wish to, play around a bit with the settings and save settings of all the three pages.
6. Go back to your Facebook homepage and refresh two- three times or just scroll around within few minutes you would have an invitation to try the new ‘Facebook Timeline’
