Many many users have some many questions in their mind about jailbreaking, so i thought i should answer a few and also clear some of the many misconceptions.

What is Jailbreaking ? Is it safe?  Would it hamper my Warranty?

• Jailbreaking is a hack  that allow users to gain access to the entire iPod Touch/iPhone OS filesystem. Which allows you to change anything from the root directory.

Is Jailbreaking Safe?

• Yes, it is absolutely safe and anytime you can un-jailbreak your device just by restoring it back to the original firmware.

Would Jailbreaking Void My Warranty from Apple?

• Many websites say that it would void your warranty but let me make it clear. Nope, it won’t hamper your warranty unless and until you step up to apple showing them your Jailbroken device. If by any chance you need to visit and show your device to Apple to claim any warranty issues, you just need to restore your device to your  default firmware.

So Why Should I Jailbreak?

• There are several reasons why you should jailbreak. Some of the essential reasons is you get the liberty to install cool Apps which are not available in App Store. Morever with some more tweaking with your Jailbroken device you get Cracked Apps which you could find very expensive in AppStore.
• It also makes it possible to install/customize your  iPhone/iPod Touch application  icons, wallpaper, dock, status bar, keyboard, Ringtones, etc.
• Apple devices are restricted to many things. Jailbreaking your device, helps you override these restrictions by installing some or the other App or tweak. As Apple theres ‘ Theres an App for almost everything’

Okay, Restoring Sounds Cool but WTH Is ‘restoring to default firmware’? And how do i do that?

Note : The first and most important thing you should know about restoring your device is that this operation will delete all your data from the iPhone / iPod touch . The deleted data will include contacts, calendar information, songs, videos, photos, and any other data that was not on the device when it left the factory. In other words, all the iPhone / iPod touch settings will be automatically reverted to their factory condition.

Things you need before you get started.

• Latest iTunes version.  Get it from Apple iTunes
• The correct firmware for your device. Apple would ofcourse charge you if you have old devices. You can get the firmwares from this site.  Make sure you navigate properly and get the correct firmware for your device.

Now follow these simple steps to restore your iPod Touch/iPhone

1. Connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your computer.
2. Select your iPhone or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
3. Select the Summary tab.
4. Press SHIFT + Restore option. You would be asked to browse and select the downloaded firmware.
5. Select the firmware, and iTunes would start checking the firmware.
6. Once the restore process has completed the iPhone or iPod touch restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up.

Some features everyone should know.

The coolest new stuff from a user point of view is:

This should take the fear and hassle out of upgrading.
4. Easier video embeds that allow you to just paste a URL on its own line and have it magically turn it into the proper embed code, with Oembed support for YouTube, Daily Motion, Blip.tv, Flickr, Hulu, Viddler, Qik, Revision3, Scribd, Google Video, Photobucket.

This blog is slow and tech is advancing very fast. Few things i realised that are destroying this blog and domain.

Being a inactive blog doesn’t help the blog at all. The page rank is gone, the readers are gone, the ads are clumsy and even the blog does feel naive now. The visitors have dropped down tremendously. Keeping this blog inactive didn’t help at all. The worst part was getting down from Page Rank of 4/5 to Page Rank of nothing / 2 .

Would try to keep updating this blog now.  Updates would be a bit slow, having some issues with the server, so might move to a new host soon. Get your potbellied pig to mate . Its time to rock n all.

Few weeks n the blog would be back in action.

Been long time since my blog update.  So coming back with a short post about the live support system you could actually use. The leading design firm, Happy Cog  released an update on March 11th regarding their work on redesigning the Mozilla.org website. The update contains three seperate concept designs with the goal of each one to encapsulate what the Mozilla universe is all about. Each concept contains an explanation behind the design.

The redesign is still very early in development but Happy Cog is asking that you take a look at each concept and then drop them a line in their comments section to provide feedback on what you think.

Happy Cog says ” Exposing these designs at an early stage in their development creates a powerful communication channel to help us find out what works, what doesn’t work, and start an open dialog with the community.”

Finally after releasing many some few untethered jailbreak applications for iPod Touch 2G whick worked just till the next reboot. And what not other things. The Final iPod Touch 2G jailbreak is out.  Yes!! Cydia on iPod Touch 2G ..Too curious and too excited iPhone Dev Team released it without a GUI so as to ease everyone, but within few hours a GUI version was released by the iPhone Dev Team member(just for now).

So as said, the Jailbreak can be done in two ways

• Manually use the firmware patch to jailbreak your iPod Touch 2G -

• • For Manual Jailbreak follow the lengthy tideous steps, which would make you understand whats actually going on.

• Using the now released QuickFreedom GUI version -
  • Simpler than anything, it would be just a few clicks and you would be done.
  • Download the the firmware 2.2.1. (Google it and there are loads of resources to download that.)
  • Download Quick Freedom, Install and Run it.
  • Follow the simple instructions, firstly install LIBUSB then patch your firmware with the jailbreak file. (Don’t worry, everything is just a few clicks)
  • Shift Restore your Ipod Touch using the custom firmware( that is done using iTunes) you just created using Quick Freedom.
  • After the firmware is installed by iTunes you are done
  • Cydia and installer would show up.
