Apple releases iOS 5.0.1 update

Apple released its iOS 5.0.1 update ( build 9A405) to mainly fix the battery issues and to add multi-touch gesture to 1st generation iPad.
The update is available via iTunes or even as a over the-air ( OTA ) update to existing iOS 5 users.

The fixes that are listed are:

  • Fixes bugs affecting battery life
  • Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
  • Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
  • Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation

This update would be Apple’s first OTA update since iOS 5 came out. The OTA update is quick, small and sleek compared to the earlier ways to update via iTunes. Continue reading

Gmail has started rolling out its snappy new interface to the world. This is the same new look which was leaked last week.

Siri Ported to iPod Touch and iPhone 4 [Video]

Hackers are trying to port Siri on all iDevices right from the day iPhone 4S was launched. Many did succeed to port the Siri user-interface but it was just the GUI which was ported, no one was able to actually connect to the Apple servers to make Siri functional.

Two known Apple hackers @chpwn and @stroughtonsmith have successfully ported Siri on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch which responds and works perfectly as it does on iPhone 4S. For the hackers, porting the GUI was easy task but they did the most important and needed part, managed to talk to Apple’s servers.

HP TouchPad is ‘Officially’ Sold Out

After the fire sale broke out a few months ago, everyone wanted one HP TouchPad for themselves. Some wanted for its cheap price tag of $99 and some enthusiasts wanted it to run Android on the WebOS based HP TouchPad

Once all the stores were out of stock HP announced they would get the last batch of HP TouchPads by the end of Oct 2011. But today HP has finally announced that they are officially out of stock and no more HP TouchPads would be sold by HP directly.

Dropbox has introduced a storage plan for businesses called Dropbox for Teams.

Its simple and practically provides unlimited storage for business users. The basic plan starts for $795/year for 5 users with each user getting 200GB ( combining to 1,000GB of storage ). Any more space if required, Dropbox would increase your quota when needed.
