With the new camera import feature added to Dropbox, Dropbox is offering additional free space while this feature is being tested out. This is available for users who are using the photo import feature.

You get increased 500 MB upto 4.5 GB of extra space for uploading your photos and videos directly to Dropbox. This has to be done by running the new Dropbox client which allows you to enable the photo import feature.
You can download and install the client from the Dropbox forums, for more information read here.

During this beta period, we are also offering additional free space to test automatic uploading of photos and videos. For every 500MB of photos and videos automatically uploaded, you’ll receive another 500MB space bonus, up to 4.5GB total.

So its still not clear if your extended storage space is valid till the beta period of it stays with you forever. But till then you can experiment and take the extra free storage space and flaunt your jealous friends.
Most likely this storage space upgrade would be permanent.

Once installed, you need to enable the photo import feature. The photo import feature relies on Autoplay, which needs to be enabled. This is done under Start Menu > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > AutoPlay in Windows 7.

If everything goes fine and you use the feature as expected, you would be getting 4.5GB of extra storage space absolutely free.

And if you are looking for tips and tricks to increase your Dropbox storage capacity, do check here to get some free extra storage space.

Windows would soon get a new Kinect which would not just get a firmware upgrade but a totally new Kinect hardware unit which is specially designed for Windows PC. Along with the visual improvements it would also have shorter USB cable and a smaller USB dongle to better share space.

Kinect has proven to be a major hit to Xbox. For those who don’t know what Kinect is, it is a small device which is mounted on the Television set and it translates the gamer’s/user’s body movements to in-game commands to play the game. Its fun to play racing, dancing and fighting/boxing games with Kinect.
The Windows version of Kinect would be identical to Xbox’s Kinect with a few changes as Windows version would be more focused on controlling softwares with various simple and complex gestures.

Microsoft is adding a new ‘Near Mode’ for Windows PC which would make the new Kinect capture very small movements more accurately which we assume would be a very must feature for people working at their desk and using Kinect for Windows PC.

Kinect for Windows PC is expected to launch early 2012.

Good news for Developers is that, Microsoft has launched the “Kinect Accelerator” program, which will give $20,000 each to ten startups using Kinect, along with Microsoft development tools, marketing visibility and mentoring.

There are several ways to jailbreak your device and you can get so many tutorials to do the same. But just in case if you wish to remove the jailbreak due to instability because of some Cydia App you just installed or some goof up you did by adding/editing some files or warranty claim, here are some simple steps that you can follow to get it done.

-Launch iTunes and connect your device to the Pc/Mac
-Let it autosync if you have kept that way.

-On the left pane, Right click on the Device name which you want to unjailbreak and click Backup. Let it take its time.

-Once done, click on the device name and a Device summary page would open.
Now you can Check for update if you want to udpate your device, or just Click on the ‘Restore’ button and follow either by ‘Backup’ or choose ‘Don’t Back Up’ will put your iOS devices back to its original factory settings with all jailbreak and tweaks completely removed.

Once done, just choose the previous backup copy to reinstall all your previous apps and settings into the same iOS device.

Thats all and your device is unjailbroken in 2mins

Mac OS definitely have some cool cursors. I am very fond of Mac OSX, the feel, the use its very exciting. But for those who use Windows they can feel the same by using some Mac OSX traditional things like Apple Safari, Task bar Dock ( included in Windows 7), iTunes, Quicktime player and MAC OSX Cursors.

Check this image and decide, if you would like to switch to those cursors or not

Heres how to change your cursors

Download the cursors – Mac OS X Cursors

Extract them to a folder.

Open Control Panel and click on the Mouse icon.

Click on the Pointers tab.

Under Scheme, select a scheme that you want for the pointers from the drop down menu.Under Customize, select the event that you want to change the pointer for, and click on the Browse button. (If you want to use the default pointer for that event, click on the Use Default button instead. This can be handy if you have already changed pointer from it’s default pointer)

Navigate to where you have your pointer saved to, then select it and click on the Open button.

Save the theme if you want by clicking on the Save As button.

And Voila!! You are done.

Note : This trick can be used on all Windows Versions.

Update : A much more easier way.

Micorsoft released 5 test updates for all the Windows 7 Beta users. These updates are optional to add and are just test updates , as Microsoft gets geared up all for the Windows 7 RC .

These updates are to be installed manually, even if MU are automatic on your PC,as they are just the optional updates Microsoft released.

These updates would help Microsoft test how smooth the update process works. The updates are for systems, servers, and other basic Beta client. Well, thats the way Beta works.

Microsoft Update blog post:

“We do typically verify update scenarios during a Beta, and releasing these test updates will help ensure that when we need to release real updates, the process will run smoothly. There will be at most five updates….

“The updates will be offered interactively. This means that users will be notified of available updates, but they won’t install automatically. Users will need to go to the Windows Update control panel and manually start installation. They will also be clearly titled as a test update. If you don’t want to install the updates then you can right click on each update and select ‘Hide update’ to prevent it from being shown in the list of available updates.”

It is advisable to backup your important data before installing these updates. Just to be extra safe.

Finally after waiting so many weeks for newer updates to come on Windows 7 to enhance our Beta Experience, Microsoft from February 24th will be offering some test updates to Windows 7 Beta (build 7000) computers.

These updates would just be a test run to check the Beta updates and other things related to Beta versions which can render the further updates. Microsoft promises, this process would be fast and would run very smoothly. There will be at most five updates. These updates test the Windows 7 servicing infrastructure. They will not deliver any new features or fixes as of now.

The updates will be offered interactively. This means that users will be notified of available updates, but they won’t install automatically. Users will need to go to the Windows Update control panel and manually start installation. They will also be clearly titled as a test update. If you don’t want to install the updates then you can right click on each update and select “Hide update” to prevent it from being shown in the list of available updates.

Fair enough Microsoft is getting all geared up for the RC Windows 7 coming in weeks to come. This would ensure Microsoft how smooth the process of upgradation would be as RC would be the most stable and fixed version possible.

Since the Beta release of Windows 7, Internet is filled up with dates of releases of Windows 7 all stamped as Rumours a trusted Source at from Microsoft has informed Neowin that the official release date is set for April 10, 2009

The Windows 7 RC is right on schedule with development, and if there are no significant problems over the next few weeks the April 10, 2009 release date will remain in tact. Releasing the Windows 7 Beta was a fairly good option under MSDN as there have been over 500,000 suggestions since the public launch of the Windows 7 Beta. So its probably MSDN subscribers would be the first one to receive the RC download.

It would be launced broadly all over so lets hope we have pleasant surprises from Microsoft regarding the same in the next coming weeks.

Well I still don’t understand is this, a Beta version is supposed to be a RC version, then shouldn’t this be RC2?
