Earlier this year, the creator of Mario Shigeru Miyamoto, came on stage at the Apple Event to announce Super Mario games is coming to iOS. At the time of announcement it was said the game would be available for a set price and the released date & other details will be announced later this year. The time has come, Nintendo has finally provided more information about the released date, the pricing and the free version of the game too.
Super Mario Run is set to release on December 15, 2016 and will be launched in 151 countries (country list here). As of now the game will only be compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running iOS 8.0 or later. Super Mario Run will support multiple languages which includes English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian and traditional Chinese language options.
From the game play perspective, Super Mario Run looks like any other endless running app like Temple Run or Subway Surfers where the character keeps running on their own but relies on the player’s tap to run over obstacles, avoid enemies, collect coins etc. Super Mario Run is no different but comes with its own game play style with the appeal of running Mario with Mario’s signature style moves and reaching flagpoles like you would in any other Mario video game.
This game will also feature a multiplayer mode which will the player racing against people on their friend list.
At the time of release, Super Mario Run will be free to download and will have three game modes which players can try for free and a one-time payment of $9.99 USD will grant unlimited access to all the three game modes.
Even though Shigeru Miyamoto announced that this won’t be an iOS specific game, there is no news of the an Android release yet.
